Delta Emulator Black Screen Fix: 6 Causes and Cures

Delta Emulator opens to a black screen? Six causes in the order to check: cache, battery optimization, GPU settings, bad ROM files, and more.

Cause 1: Corrupted cache

Open Android settings, find the app, and clear the cache (not data: data holds your saves). Relaunch. This fixes more black screens than everything else combined.

Cause 2: Battery optimization killing the app

Aggressive battery savers kill the emulator mid-boot. Exempt the app from battery optimization (the Delta Emulator official page documents the exact build this fix applies to) and try again. While you are there, the battery guide shows how to save power without breaking the app.

Cause 3: Wrong video renderer

In the emulator's video settings, switch the renderer to the alternative option and relaunch the game. Some GPUs disagree with the default path, especially on older Mali hardware.

Cause 4: Bad ROM file

A truncated or corrupted game file can boot to black. Re-obtain the file from your own legitimate source, verify it is complete, and try again. If every game black-screens, the file is not the problem.

Cause 5: Overlay and permission conflicts

Screen overlays (chat heads, blue-light filters) can fight the emulator's surface. Temporarily disable overlays and retest. Also confirm the app still holds its storage permission.

Cause 6: Clean reinstall

Back up saves with the save transfer guide, uninstall, and reinstall the XAPK. If the black screen survives all six causes, report your phone model and Android version to support: that is a genuine bug report, not user error.

Quick answers

Why does Delta Emulator show a black screen on launch?

Most often a corrupted cache or the system killing the app at boot. Clear the cache and exempt the app from battery optimization first.

The game loads but the screen stays black. Why?

Usually a bad ROM file or a mismatched video renderer. Re-check the file and try a different renderer in settings.

Could my phone just be too old?

Below Android 7.0 the app will not install at all. On Android 7 to 9, black screens are more common: the fixes below still help.
